Neelambari: the Music of Love

When was the last time we had a truly female-oriented Malayalam movie? Well... “Neelambari’’ is the answer for that. The film “Neelambari” discusses a theme that the Malayalam silver screen has not yet touched properly. The movie moves around the lives of two bosom friends- Parvathi and Lekshmi.

Neelambari is directed by Hari Narayana, the director of the award winning movie “Nanduni”. The cast includes Vineeth, Anoop Menon, Harisree Asokan, Suraj Venjarammood, Kalasala Babu, Arun. V. Narayan, P. Sreekumar, Anoop Chandran, Bhama, Vidya, Ambika Mohan, Preetha Hari, Baby Nakshathra and a lot more veteran actors. Bhama and Vidya play the key roles of Parvathi and Lekshmi respectively. Vineeth’s character is that of a music teacher, Devanand.

The story is set in an ‘Agrahaaram’, a street where the Brahmins reside. Parvathi looses her mother at her birth itself. It’s Lekshmi’s mom who takes care of Parvathi as her own daughter. The two grow up like twin sisters- similar dressing, similar thoughts and similar dreams. Both pursue their studies in music. Their music teacher Devanand, played by Vineeth, falls in love with Parvathy. But his grandpa proposes Lekshmi for Devanand. The hero never knows this. There begins the chaos which leads to Parvathi’s isolation. The love thus separates the bosom friends. The rest, we can all watch in the theatres!

The producer of “Neelambari” is Premanandan, and is produced in the banner of Sree Lekshmi Creations. Sree Lekshmi Release brings “Neelambari” to theatres. Screenplay, story and dialogue of the movie owe its credit to Haripad Harilal. Kaithapram Viswanathan Nampoodiri renders music to the lyrics written by Kaithapram Damodaran Nampoodiri. Sasi Ramakrishnan is the cinematographer of Neelaambari. Bijuvi is the art director. Make up- Roy Pallissery, Costumes- Indrance Jayan, Production Control- Jose Varappuzha, Production Designer- Biju, Production Manager- Madhu Vattapparambil and Stills- Magna Sabu.

The shoot begins on March 5 and lasts till the end of March. Palakkad and Pazhani are the major locations. The film is more of a musical subject, says the director. Suraj Venjarammod and Harisree Asokan are all set to create an atmosphere of underlying humor.

This commercial film in class mood will hit theatres in May.
